Shin Se-kyung is a South Korean actress, singer and model from Seoul. Shin Se-kyung made her entertainment debut at just the age of 8 in 1998, after being featured on the cover and poster for Seo Taiji’s solo album “Take Five”. She had her breakthrough in 2009, after starring in sitcom “High Kick Through The Roof”.

1. Jonghyun (SHINee)
Kim Jong-hyun, also known as Jonghyun, was a South Korean singer-songwriter, record producer, radio host and member of boy band SHINee. The two dated in 2010, after meeting for the first time at a concert. Their relationship became public after Jonghyun was spotted waiting for Shin Se-kyung, outside of her apartment. Shortly after the news broke out, SM Entertainment and Namoo Actors confirmed the couple’s relationship.
What made the news even more exciting was the fact that in the past Jonghyun named Shin Se-kyung as his ideal type and Shin Se-kyung named SHINee as her favorite boy band.
Unfortunately, their relationship only lasted for nine months. The two decided to part ways due to their busy schedules.
In 2017, heart-breaking news shocked many worldwide. It was announced that Jonghyun had taken his own life in his own apartment with carbon monoxide poisoning. Shin Se-kyung, along with SM artists, BTS, IU and many more, attended Jonghyun’s memorial.
2. Nam Joo-hyuk
In 2017, Shin Se-kyung and South Korean model and actor worked alongside one another in romance drama “The Bride of Habaek“. Something that may surprise many fans of the show is that Shin Se-kyung suffers from aquaphobia, the fear of water, due to trauma.
When asked about it the actress explained, saying “My trauma is so bad that sometimes I get short of breath while showering. Thankfully, with the generous help of the filming crew, I was able to complete the water scenes, though I feel apologetic because I could have done a better job if I wasn’t an actress who was scared of water. But I still did my best.”
She shared that Nam Joo-hyuk gave her motivation and helped her become a better actress.

3. Siwan
In 2020, Shin Se-kyung and Siwan co-starred in romance drama “Run On“. During an interview Siwan had the opportunity to talk about the drama, sharing that his character reminds him of himself as he was also very daring in the past, as he gave up college to pursue his dream of becoming a singer trainee. He shared gratitude for his younger self.
Many fans admired the chemistry the two shared on the show. Siwan shared, “I’m glad that viewers enjoyed watching the couple. I’m satisfied that our trust in each other showed in the drama.”
4. Cha Eun-woo (Astro)
In 2019, Shin Se-kyung and Cha Eun-woo had the opportunity to work together in romance drama “Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung“. During an interview that followed Shin Se-kyung’s photo-shoot with High Cut, the actress had the chance to talk about the drama.
After talking a little about her character Shin Se-kyung shared her thoughts on her co-star, “Although he must be tackling an extremely busy schedule, he fundamentally has a very bright energy. Not just me, but the production crew also received a positive impact from Cha Eun-woo.”

During her 2014 appearance on reality show “Entertainment Weekly”, where she was asked about a previous statement she had made regarding her ideal type. The reporter asked Shin Se-kyung, “I heard you chose Optimus Prime as your ideal type. Do you have a taste in bulky guys?” To which Shin Se-kyung replied with, “I like guys with a mid-low voice and a huge sense of responsibility. Optimus Prime is a robot, but he has many characteristics like that.”
More recently, Shin Se-kyung named American actor Jake Gyllenhaal as her ideal type during her 2019 appearance on “Noon’s Hope Song Kim Shin Young”. She explained saying, “I like someone who is professional in his main job.” The American actor had just visited Korea in order to promote “Spider-man: Far From Home”.
